Werribee Open Range Zoo

Werribee Open Range Zoo gives every visitor a taste of African adventure. Only 30 minutes away from Melbourne, the zoo is full of amazing animals living in the open savannah.

Together with your toddler discover rhinos, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, cheetahs, and lions. You can even meet a family of hippos in the new Kubu River Hippos Experience.

There are outdoor play spaces where kids can search for fossils in a sandy dig pit and swing from tree to tree at Monkey Rope Play and Meerkat-themed play space. In summer, you can even meet a family of hippos in the Kubu River Hippos Experience.

On weekdays there is a range of activities:

– Junior Safari. A 35-minute safari bus tour featuring music and lots of animal action;
– Ranger Kids. An indoor space where kids can transform themselves by dressing up as wildlife rangers, vets and even a Leopard Tortoise;
– Village Kids. An outdoor adventure play space;
– Village Dance Party. A highly interactive musical dance theatre where children are encouraged to play the bongos, wiggle hips, stamp feet and ‘call animals to water;
