Wits University Origins Centre

Origins Centre is a museum that explores the origins of art in Africa.

The permanent exhibit features casts of hominid fossils discovered in South Africa and focuses on their contribution to understanding the development of humankind.

There is also an extensive collection of southern African rock art and the earliest images made by humans.

Toddlers can participate in hands-on learning experiences, “ancient painting” workshops or have fun examining dinosaur eggs and life-size dinosaur models.
