Located around half an hour from KL, Batu Caves is a must-visit location. The place features sacred Hindu temples and shrines within stunning geological landforms that are limestone caves.
A 140 feet high Hindu deity Lord Murugan statue will welcome you upon arrival next to the 272 brightly-coloured steps leading up to the main caves.
Though there are some caveats that you should be aware of such as thieving monkeys, steep stairways, and crowds, as long as you prepare yourself mentally, your toddler will have a great time at one of the most memorable destinations in Malaysia.
Take the KTM train from KL Sentral to Batu Caves (FREE for children under 4 and the journey takes 30 min). Come early in the day when the steps are still shaded but be aware inside the caves will be quite cool.
Batu Cave is a functioning temple thus appropriate attire is expected: women must wear skirts or trousers that cover their knees while men should also dress respectfully. If needed, you will be asked to wear a sarong, which can be hired at the bottom of the steps.
Entry is FREE.
