Similarly looking to the Sleeping Beauty Castle, Neuschwanstein Castle was built by Bavarian King Ludwig II in the late 19th century. It is a white castle high on the mountainside, overlooking a valley below.
The interior of the castle includes medieval-themed murals, mosaic floors, walls covered in carved woodwork, and golden tapestries.
The family can enjoy hiking trails outside the majestic castle or visit the Hohenschwangau Castle and Museum of the Bavarian Kings that are located nearby. Combination tickets are available.
The castle is located outside of Munich so you can drive there or take a train to Hohenschwangau station. Book your tickets in advance and the castle gets busy during summer so better to come during other seasons if possible. If not, bring lots of sunscreen on a sunny day.
Tickets (for guided tours): adults – €15.00, children (under 18) – FREE.
