Take the Robben Island Tour to discover the 500-year-old multi-layered history of adversity, suffering and injustice.
The tour includes the graveyard of people who died from leprosy, several quarries, the army and navy bunkers, and the Maximum Security Prison where thousands of South Africa’s freedom fighters were incarcerated for years. The tour culminates with a visiting Nelson Mandela’s cell.
The ferry trip takes off from Nelson Mandela Gateway at the V&A Waterfront and then at Murray’s Bay Harbour visitors get on buses with tour guides. The whole tour lasts for about 3.5 hours.
